Caldwell May Produce Biodiesel as Demand for Underwear Wanes

Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Caldwell Investments Plc, a U.K. distributor of underwear and maker of devices that clip sun canopies to lounge chairs, said it may start to produce biodiesel amid slackening demand for its existing products.

Caldwell is in talks with commodity brokers and is planting a trial plantation in Brazil of 1,000 jatropha trees, which are used to produce biofuel, the Leeds, England-based company said today in a statement distributed by the Regulatory News Service.

The company has identified potential investors in Brazil, it said.

The biodiesel project, now at a ``very early'' stage, is ``subject to a number of major uncertainties, including funding, recruitment of local management, access to suitable land and successful cultivation of the plantation,'' the company said.

Mother and Boyfriend Arrested in Connection with Baby's Death

A major break Thursday in the case of an 18-month-old Hamilton County girl who police say was shaken to death. Only on NewsChannel 9, the grandfather of Sierra Carpenter reacts to the charges that have his former daughter-in-law and her boyfriend behind bars. The baby's mother, Traci Carpenter, was charged with aggravated child neglect. So was her boyfriend. But this boyfriend, Brian Rutherford, was also charged with first degree murder. "Never saw it coming," said Sierra's grandfather, Steve Carpenter. "Had no idea." The death of his granddaughter, he says, caught everyone by surprise. "Not a unhappy bone in her body. She was just a sweet little baby," Carpenter said. But Sierra Carpenter died a brutal death in April 2006. "The autopsy found blunt force trauma was the cause of death, and it was ruled a homicide," said Hamilton County Sheriff's Dept.

Many changes under way at Lejeune's Naval Hospital

A visit to Camp Lejeune's Naval Hospital reveals construction workers, wet paint signs and building materials - all visible signs of changes in the making.

That's how things have gone over the past seven months at the Naval Hospital since Capt. Mark C. Olesen took command.

Camp Lejeune's full-service pharmacy located at the Marine Corps Exchange has opened, allowing shoppers to get their medicine in a one-stop shop. That expansion has allowed the Naval Hospital's own pharmacy to shorten its waiting time to around 10 minutes. Those pharmacies fill around 2,000 prescriptions a day.

The hospital also completed one of its biggest projects - the Coastal Carolina Mother-Baby Unit, which opened in November and boasts 18 rooms that accommodate mother, father, baby and family. Everything from labor to delivery to recovery happens in one room now.

Stroller-cise

Stroller-cise instructor Jeremy Seymour may act like your typical boot camp instructor but these aren't you're average recruits.

"The heavier the baby the more workout you get," Seymour said.

Seymour leads Stroller-cise, a body boot camp for mom and baby.

"We do everything from crunches to sit ups, we do running, we do jogging, we do sprints, we do leg lifts, " Seymour said.

It's a workout that incorporates almost every part of the body.

"The strollers, we use them to do stretches on.  We use them when we do lunges, also we use the babies.  We take the babies in front of us and we do squats with the babies.  We do raises with the babies," Seymour said.

Push-ups are little more rewarding when you get a kiss.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says it's okay for a new mother to exercise six weeks after giving birth, but they also say it's important to start slow.
